Employees’ satisfaction with benefits has fallen over the past year, despite rising satisfaction with salary levels.
Satisfaction among employees with their salaries has increased from 53% to 54.4% since last year, according to the annual Job Satisfaction Survey by Unum, however, levels of job fulfilment have not increased
Satisfaction with reward packages including benefits other than salary has fallen from 38% to 35%, satisfaction with the working environment has fallen from 66% to 63% and satisfaction with working relationships with managers and peers have fallen from 65% to 61%.
Joanne Hindle, corporate services director at Unum, said: “Raising salary levels alone will not guarantee a more fulfilled and productive workforce. Benefits, work-life balance, an employer’s sense of autonomy and company culture also have a vital role to play, and need to be taken seriously by organisations that want to stay competitive.”
