Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil offers to pay club mascot’s salary

Something for the weekend:  Due to the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, and with the fear of redundancy looming over his head, the infamous mascot at Arsenal football club has been thrown a lifeline.

Arsenal midfielder, Mescut Ozil has offered to pay the salary of Jerry Quy, who is the man behind Gunnersaurus, the club’s mascot. Quy has played the role of the green friendly dinosaur for 27 years, delighting fans when he takes to the pitch every game, waving The Gunners flag.

However, due to the stands remaining empty for months and the club having to tighten its purse strings, it looked like Gunnersaurus would be hanging up his football kit for the last time, but Ozil was not about to let that happen.

He took to Twitter and Tweeted: “I was so sad that Jerry Quy, aka our famous and loyal mascot @Gunnersaurus and integral part of our club, was being made redundant after 27 years. As such, I’m offering to reimburse @Arsenal with the full salary of our big green guy as long as I will be an Arsenal player.”

Here are Employee Benefits we might not be able to pay each other’s salaries, but we love a bit of team spirit, and cannot wait to return to the office to buy cakes for our fellow co-workers.
