Lily’s Kitchen celebrates staff at end-of-year festivities

Lily’s Kitchen, a UK natural pet food brand based in central London, always looks forward to Christmas, as it is a chance for many in the organisation to come together at a time when many are still working from home for part of the week

Georgina Cameron, human resources director at Lily’s Kitchen, says: “This is particularly valuable for new team members who have joined us over the last 12 months and may have had fewer opportunities to spend quality time with the extended team. From a Covid perspective, we will naturally review our plans on a continuous basis as we have since March 2020. We’re particularly mindful that as we approach the autumn and winter months we may need to take precautionary measures to keep the team safe, but this has always been our priority.”

In the past, the organisation has also organised a Secret Santa gift exchange and collected donations to support charities in the community. The team have yet to decide on this year’s charity, but last year gathered collections for toiletries for a women’s refuge and toys for child refugees.

While making plans for celebrating Christmas this year, Lily’s Kitchen has remained mindful of the cost-of-living crisis and wants to make sure that it not only acknowledges the team’s hard work, but is also helping others.

It has made some changes to how the team can flag faith-based and other dietary requirements for group events based on feedback to its latest diversity and inclusion survey, explains Cameron.

“Everyone is now invited to log their dietary requirements in our HR portal so that team members organising events and celebrations have this information to hand and can cater accordingly. This way, people don’t feel singled-out or that they are causing a fuss by having to request a meal to suit their faith-based or required diet every time we get together,” she concludes.
