Humanitarian landmine clearance organisation The Halo Trust has launched an employee engagement and happiness programme for its approximately 13,000-strong global workforce.

Implemented in conjunction with The Happiness Index’s digital platform, Halo Trust staff have been given access to a range of neuroscience-based surveys in order to share their thoughts and feelings on topics relating to their organisation and culture. These will then be used to create actionable insights that will drive a stronger people strategy in each of its global locations.

Employees can use the platform’s cultural assessment dashboard to note their key engagement and happiness drivers, with the trust then being able to measure and analyse employee feedback through benchmarks, filter comparisons and heatmaps.

Staff also have access to an employee voice survey, which operates as a health check and engagement tool by asking two questions: ‘How are you feeling today?’ and ‘Why?’ This will enable them to feedback in real-time.

Lisa Davidson, global HR director of The Halo Trust, said: “The urgent need for our work is more apparent than ever. Protracted conflicts in Yemen, Libya, Syria and Somalia continue to destroy lives. In Ukraine, the war has caused devastation to thousands of families, left behind a lethal tide of landmines and explosives, and had repercussions around the world. Against this backdrop, our new partnership with The Happiness Index will help us to create a global listening programme that will allow Halo’s staff to share how they think and feel.

“It’s vital for us that we are an employer of choice and create an environment that embraces diversity and inclusion. By working with The Happiness Index, we’ll ensure that our workers are really listened to and are at the heart of driving forward our organisation.”
