A Day in the Life of Financial Wellbeing

Being a freelancer means there is no typical day so I (Emma) can be working from home writing online content for an international bank one day, and then spending an hour with a community group talking about where to access debt support the next. I love the fact that I can be incredibly flexible too and I can take on diverse projects from across the UK, delivering corporate financial wellbeing workshops in the Lake District to discussing savings options with geologists in Scotland!

One thing is for certain, you have to be ultra-organised as a lot of my time is spent planning and organising my diary, prioritising deadlines and speaking to clients about their financial wellbeing requirements.

I love working with The Money Charity; they are passionate about engaging people with their finances and encouraging them to improve their financial wellbeing. They give me autonomy to establish positive relationships with clients and host organisations, as well as the flexibility to deliver their core programmes in a style that best suits the client and its needs.

If I’m not out and about delivering workshops, then you can probably find me behind a screen writing bespoke programmes for the charity’s clients, this can range from writing training presentations for frontline support staff to developing financial wellbeing programmes for ex-offenders and other vulnerable groups. In fact, this is why I love what I do, the range and mix of projects varies greatly and helps keep me on my toes.

When I am not writing or delivering, I spend a lot of time keeping up-to-date with financial products, current events and financial news so that I can deliver topical, relevant information to the clients confidently. To do this I often use social media platforms, following government bodies directing financial capability, financial experts as well as other organisations who work well within the financial wellbeing space. It really helps to understand the market changes and new products so that I can give the best support possible to The Money Charity’s clients.
