Shell UK has produced a DVD to help communicate its benefits package to its 13,000 employees.
The disc, which features two-minute sound bites on each of the benefits on offer to Shell UK staff, will be sent to their home addresses this month, including staff based on offshore oil rigs.
Tim Kensey, senior reward and policy adviser at Shell International, said: “[The DVD] includes employee testimonials, allowing [staff] to describe how they have used what we call the My Benefits programme, and summary information from all the main providers. It is a great way for employees to sit down with their family and look at what is on offer, helping to ensure that choices meet both their and [their] families’ needs.”
In April, the company will also introduce a bikes-for-work scheme, a childcare consultation and search service, and a dependant and eldercare helpline. Details of all new perks are included on the DVD.
“This year, we are giving all employees across the UK the opportunity to sit down and discuss face-to-face their childcare needs with Bupa Childcare Services, which will then help them source a nanny or a nursery or whatever sort of childcare cover they might need,” said Kensey.

The dependant and eldercare helpline, meanwhile, is designed to help employees with tasks such as sourcing nursing homes for elderly dependants.
The reward package’s focus for 2007 is intended to be on family-friendly and health issues.
