Deliveroo launches free and flexible childcare hours benefit

Deliveroo flexible childcare hoursOnline food delivery service Deliveroo has introduced a free and flexible childcare hours benefit for its working parents as part of its rider proposition expansion.

Through a partnership with childcare booking app Bubble, that allows parents to find late notice, flexible in-home care, 1,000 riders will be able to access to 15 hours of free and flexible childcare. Offered on a first-come, first-served basis, the flexible hours will build on Deliveroo’s flexible model for riders and help support them with childcare, eldercare and pet care.

The benefit was introduced following a recent survey of Deliveroo riders in the UK and Ireland, which found that the majority with caring responsibilities look after children (88%), and would find care support useful (81%).

The initiative is part of Deliveroo’s ongoing commitment to support rider growth, development and welfare, and enable them to work flexibly and efficiently at the times that are right for them. It also wants to support the wellbeing of riders and their families and provide care when they need it most.

Camilla Kater, senior vice president of care and rider at Deliveroo, said: “At Deliveroo, we’re committed to investing in our riders’ development, welfare, and future, and the flexible work we offer is often a stepping stone to progress in other careers, or a way to juggle earning with caring responsibilities. The new free childcare offering gives parents more flexibility and opportunity to ride when they want. The benefits of offering this type of support has a hugely positive impact on wellbeing and fulfilment.”

Deliveroo also offers its employees a free Headspace membership, access to its employee assistance programme, local gym memberships or allowances, paid time each year to volunteer or support a charity, flexible working hours, a work-from-home kit, a parental leave policy, and a cash bonus that rewards their individual contributions and performance. Medical support or insurance are available depending on employees’ location.
