Research shows that men visit the GP 32% less than women during working years, that one in five men die before they retire, and it is estimated that 50% of premature male deaths are preventable. These sort of statistics are the reason why Clifford Chance launched Peppy Men’s Health last year, which has been a great way to enable us to support our male employees.
The scheme includes a digital health app that offers confidential and personalised support for men via one-to-one private chats and video consultations with men’s health practitioners, plus articles, guides, videos, courses, health and fitness programmes, and much more.
For men’s health week (12 to 16 June), we organised a webinar by Peppy for Clifford Chance employees, specifically on male hormonal health, to raise awareness of how significant the role that hormones play in men’s health and wellbeing is.
We know men are less proactive when it comes to looking after their health, so all employees are invited to regular health screenings, designed to diagnose conditions such as cancer, heart disease and diabetes, as well as identifying any personal health risk factors. These screenings include male specific elements such as testicular examination and, once they reach 45, a prostate cancer blood test.
