At the 2023 Employee Benefits Awards, the award was won by Tesco Stores, due to its initiatives to help support employees through the cost-of-living crisis. These included a pay advance scheme following a successful 13-month trial to enable access to earned pay in time for Christmas, a deals and discounts scheme to highlight how staff could save money every payday, amplifying communications and enhancing its bikes-for-work scheme to make it more accessible to hourly-paid staff.

A Tesco spokesperson said: “We have such a large population of employees across a varied demographic that we really needed to look at how we can help all of them. The bulk are within the demographic that have been hit hard by financial pressures, so that is our focus at this time.”

The Employee Benefits Awards provides the opportunity to recognise and celebrate reward, benefits and HR industry professionals driving excellence through their reward and benefits strategies.

The 22nd annual awards ceremony will be held at the Honourable Artillery Company, London on 14 June. The daytime event will include a drinks reception, three-course meal, entertainment and the chance to network with industry professionals.
