American theme park and entertainment organisation Universal Orlando (pictured) has increased its base rate of pay to $12 (£9.35) an hour, effective from February 2019.
The pay rise is expected to increase wages for thousands of Universal Orlando’s US-based staff members.
The organisation has committed to continue to review and adjust its rates of pay to ensure that it remains market competitive.

A spokesperson at Universal Orlando said: “We have made a long-planned announcement to let our team members know we are adjusting our starting rate in February 2019 to $12 an hour.
“Our announcement and the related adjustments we’ll be making means an increase in wages for thousands of our team members. And, as always, we will continue to review and adjust our rates so that we stay competitive in the market.”
