Toy Story’s Woody awarded employee of the month

Something for the Weekend: Employees at home improvement retailer Home Depot’s branch in Plaistow, New Hampshire, recently found themselves competing for its employee of the month award with an unlikely new colleague.

Cowboy Woody, better known for his Toy Story fame, was recruited to the store’s team after he was found in its car park. In a bid to reunite him with his owner, staff took him into the store, awarded him an employee of the month apron and posted pictures of his adventures on Facebook.

During his time in the role, Woody undertook a number of tasks to help customers, including offering hand sanitiser to help them shop safely.

Writing on Facebook, Sarah Huberdeau, associate at Home Depot, said: “He is really having fun learning all the departments. He’s learned how to mix paint, how to cut on the saw in lumber, how to help customers at the service desk and even helped to sanitise to keep everyone safe… but he’s getting home sick and I’m sure someone misses him very much.”

Luckily, just as in the Toy Story films, Woody’s story had a happy ending when he was reunited with his owner.

Here at Employee Benefits, we think it sounds like Woody thoroughly deserved his recognition as employee of the month…
