Something for the weekend: Australia’s Flinders Island is seeking a suitable candidate to cuddle its wombat resident Derek.
The Tasmanian government’s tourism marketing agency, Tourism Tasmania, is running a competition to appoint the chief wombat cuddler.
While the lucky winner’s key responsibility will be cuddling the cute marsupial – a pretty great work perk in itself – they will also have the opportunity to explore Flinders Island.
The competition will close on 16 April, and, sadly, it is only open to Australian residents. As Tourism Tasmania notes: “Non-cuddlers need not apply.”
