Software organisation SAS India, retail business United Colours of Benetton India, manufacturing firm Mahindra Intertrade and education organisation Max Skill First are among the businesses recognised on India’s top 50 great mid-size workplaces 2019 list, compiled by the Great Place to Work Institute India, in association with BW BusinessWorld.

The list, now in its 10th year, assesses the employee experience and organisational culture of businesses with between 100 and 500 staff members based in India. This includes gathering anonymous employee feedback via the institute’s Trust index survey, as well as completing a culture audit, using a tool that enables the Great Place to Work Institute India to evaluate the quality of an organisation’s people practices.

The list also considers whether these measures are consistent across different employee demographics. To measure this, it considers whether any group that forms 10% or more of the organisation’s workforce has a significantly different experience compared with the employer’s overall average score.

For 2019, around 300 organisations with a total employee headcount of 61,000 participated in order to be recognised in the final list.

Other organisations that feature within the top 50 include technology business ESDS Software Solution, Admiral Technologies, construction organisation Gera Developments, manufacturing firm Feedback Energy Distribution Company, telecommunications business Frog Cellsat, Brigade Hospitality Services and professional services firm Burns and McDonnell Engineering India.

Srinivas Rao, director, HR at SAS India, said: “We are humbled to receive this honour. At SAS, it is our mission to enable our employees to thrive in today’s hyper-competitive world and we do that by offering them a culture that is based on collaboration and empowerment.

“We strive to improve every day and create an environment where employees give their best and exceed the expectations from our customers.
