Banking organisation Santander UK, food and beverage manufacturer Pepsico, and utilities business Ovo Energy are among the 92 employers certified as 2020’s top employers in the UK and Ireland by the Top Employers Institute.
The certification allows organisations to benchmark and showcase success against others in their industry and beyond which are dedicated to outstanding people strategies.
To compile the list, the Top Employers Institute undertakes an analysis of participating organisations through its HR best practices survey. Businesses then undergo a third-party audit to ensure the integrity of the Top Employers Institute’s processes and data.
The 2020 UK and Ireland top employers list was announced at an event held yesterday (30 January 2020). The list included 82 UK employers and 10 Ireland-based employers.
Other organisations on the UK and Ireland list this year included Avon Cosmetics, Bentley Motors, DHL International (UK), East Midlands Railway, Harrods, Heineken UK, JD Wetherspoon, Pfizer UK, Novartis Ireland and Saint-Gobain Ireland.
Phil Sproston, country manager UK and Ireland at the Top Employers Institute, said: “This year our UK [and] Ireland Top Employers have once again demonstrated their commitment to putting people at the heart of what they do.
“Our 2020 Top Employers are moving rapidly along the road of transformation. In the process, they are managing to create more ‘fluid’ organisations: less reliant on old structures and hierarchies, and more invested in placing values, diversity and wellbeing at the centre of driving change forward. The humane and soulful workplaces now emerging from these changes are underpinned, not undermined, by significant investment in new HR technologies, [artificial intelligence] and automation.”
