Financial institution Metro Bank, airline Virgin Atlantic and HR system provider Ciphr have been named on the Most loved workplaces UK 2022 list, with the bank and airline ranking in the top 10.
The list was created by Newsweek, Best Practice Institute (BPI) and its benchmark research, assessment and culture change organisation Most Loved Workplace.
In order to identify the top 100 businesses for the list, organisations were evaluated and scored based on responses to BPI’s proprietary Love of Workplace index, analysis of external public ratings from Comparably, Careerbliss, Glassdoor, Indeed and Google, and direct interviews with and written responses from their officials. Newsweek then conducted additional research into every firm and the top runners-up to determine the final list.
The Love of Workplace Index measured five areas to determine how employees feel about where they work: the level of collaboration, how positive staff are about their future there, how much employer values aligned with employee values, respect at all levels, and career achievement.
The top 10 Most loved workplaces for 2022 were:

- Alfa Financial Software
- Lewis Silkin
- Metro Bank

Louis Carter, founder and CEO of BPI, said: “The most mentioned significant words by the [organisations in our surveys] were ‘value’ and ‘culture’, with 45% of the [businesses] making mention of at least one of those words. The [employers] begin the execution of their culture and value-based systems during the recruitment process.”
