Mercer and Hole offers staff extra bank holiday break

Employees at accountants Mercer and Hole have been given an extra day off on 27 August in recognition of their hard work and commitment to the firm and its clients.

The 233 members of staff across the company’s offices in London, St Albans, Rickmansworth and Milton Keynes will enjoy a four-day break to include the UK bank holiday on 30 August, enabling them to relax and spend time with their loved ones.

Gill Tallon, deputy managing partner, Mercer & Hole, said: “The long August bank holiday is always a highlight of the summer months and we wanted to give everyone in our team the opportunity to enjoy an extra day in the summer sunshine.”

She believes that the additional day of annual leave will give people the chance to relax for longer, travel further and spend time doing what they enjoy most in their spare time.

“We want to thank everyone for their hard work and dedication especially during the past 18 months and this is a small way to show our appreciation and one we know our team will enjoy,” Tallon explained.

She added that the company had wanted to reward staff for the way they had quickly adapted to the challenges working through the pandemic lockdown had brought and for their high levels of collaboration, commitment and teamwork.

“At the heart of this was our desire to reward all staff and to ensure that reward was inclusive. We are living in a diverse world and when we thought about gifts such as champagne or cream teas we knew that could have excluded some staff,” Tallon said.

As a result, the company decided to award everyone an extra days holiday and chose to attach the additional day off to the bank holiday to ensure all staff could relax and know that all the team were also off at the same time.

Tallon concluded: “This ensures it is also a ‘no guilt’ holiday, which means none of our staff have to worry about their team having to work whilst they are off.”
