Love's extends pay increase and sick pay benefits to employees

US-based convenience store chain Love’s Travel Stops and Country Stores (Love’s) is extending its $2 (£1.63) hour pay increase, Covid-19 (Coronavirus) related sick pay and free employee meals for 26,000 store employees.

Free employee meals will now be available until the end of May 2020, the pay increase will be extended until 2 June 2020, while the Coronavirus sick pay benefit is being extended through to 31 July 2020.

The business will also pay a $200 (£162) bonus to employees who work during the month of June 2020.

Customer-facing employees at Love’s hotels, Speedco and Love’s Truck Care are also eligible.

The businesses first launched these benefits in March 2020 and then announced an initial extension in April 2020, before extending the time period again.

Jenny Love Meyer, executive vice president and chief culture officer at Love’s, said: “Our team members continue to work hard to help get professional truck drivers back on the road quickly.

“The importance of their work isn’t going unnoticed by us or by our customers. We’ll continue to support them as they support those who are delivering essential goods across the country.”
