Lloyd’s recruits first chief people officer

Commercial, corporate and speciality risk solutions marketplace Lloyd’s has appointed Sara Gomez as its first chief people officer.

Gomez first joined the business in July 2021 as interim chief human resources officer and became a member of Lloyd’s Executive Committee on 1 December 2021.

In the role of chief people officer, Gomez will focus on developing Lloyd’s talent, leadership and inclusion strategy.

To date, her career spans leadership roles in the retail, commercial and financial sectors. Prior to joining Lloyd’s, her most recent role was at fintech Greensill, where she created its people function during a period of high global growth. Before that, Gomez was people director at menswear group Moss Bros, following seven years at insurance business Direct Line Group.

John Neal, chief executive officer at Lloyd’s, said: “I am delighted to confirm [Gomez] in the new role of chief people officer at what is an important time for the Lloyd’s Corporation, as we develop our talent and inclusion strategy. [Gomez] is a proven leader, and in the short time that she has been at Lloyd’s she has already made a significant and valuable contribution.”

Gomez added: “I am excited to be continuing my career with Lloyd’s. It is an iconic brand and I can see a tremendous opportunity to develop even further as we strive to make Lloyd’s a magnet for the very best talent in financial services.”
