Brighton & Hove City Council has introduced a cycle-to-work scheme for its 9,000 employees.
Working on a salary sacrifice basis, the scheme gives each employee opportunity to receive tax and national insurance relief on the portion of their salary that they put towards the bike.
Helen Marshall, travel plan officer, said: “We were keen to introduce a scheme which would encourage staff to travel using healthy and sustainable transport, in line with our staff travel plan. The cycle-to-work scheme does just that and we are delighted to be able to offer this excellent benefit to our staff.”
The scheme is implemented by P&MM.
