Scottish Prison Service moves eyecare benefit online

EXCLUSIVE: The Scottish Prison Service has moved its employee eyecare benefit online.

All HR managers across the 14 prison service sites now have instant access to its eyecare scheme, provided by Specsavers Corporate Eyecare, to offer all staff vouchers for visual display unit (VDU) eyecare and safety eyewear.

It uses the vouchers to provide eyecare checks for employees that use VDU’s, and for safety eyewear, for employees involved in more physical work.

In moving the benefit online, the organisation aims to procure, distribute and manage eyecare provision with reduced administration.

It also allows employees to redeem vouchers using their smartphones.

A spokesperson from the Scottish Prison Service, said: ‘Our HR managers are now able to handle eyecare extremely quickly and efficiently online.

“They can allocate eVouchers to employees as and when necessary and the employee simply needs to print the voucher to take to their local Specsavers store, or they can even just present it on their smartphone or mobile device.

“The eVoucher system makes the management of eyecare simple and consistent across all our sites.”
