Employees believe that employers’ policies to support older workers do not go far enough, according to research carried out by Norwich Union.
Many employees wish to carry on working past the age of 65 years often on a part-time basis. A fifth of 25-34 year-olds polled, however, worry that employers will not offer this part-time flexibility. But it seems that this lack of flexibility is not a concern for those now approaching retirement age.
Just 9% of respondents aged 55-64 expressed the same concern. Compulsory retirement is also a worry for some employees. This is highest among 34-44 year olds and 55-64 year olds – at 29% and 23% respectively.
