Inchcape introduces tool insurance for vehicle technicians across the UK

Automotive retailer Inchcape UK has updated its benefits package to include personal tool insurance for its 1,000 vehicle technicians, working across more than 100 centres around the UK.

The new provision, introduced on 1 May 2018, gives technicians the opportunity to be included, free of charge, in the additional benefit of tool insurance. This will be fully funded by the organisation, and will provide cover on a ‘new for old’ basis, up to the value of £20,000.

This update aims to specifically aid those workshop and bodyshop technicians, making up 1,000 of the approximately 5,500-strong employees, who have built up a valuable collection of their own tools.

Employees can sign up to the new benefit by making a video of their toolbox via the organisation’s internal CitNOW application. This will then be used to complete insurance applications on their behalf.

This adds to Inchcape’s existing benefits package, which includes personal and team bonuses, pensions, sharesave schemes, and retail discounts.

James Brearley (pictured), CEO at Inchcape UK, says: “Many of our technicians have built up their own high value tool collection which they use alongside the equipment we provide. We know these personal tools are extremely important to them and that they will have been a significant investment. We want to help them protect their personal property and continue to show our ongoing commitment to being the employer of choice for technicians in our industry.”
