Telegraph Media Group launched an online flexible benefits scheme and total reward statements on 1 March so its 1,200 staff can view all their benefits in one place.
The publishing company has also introduced new benefits, such as a salary sacrifice car scheme, online payroll giving, carbon offsetting, and the option to increase life assurance from four times to 12 times salary. The firm’s existing pension scheme, childcare vouchers, bikes for work and home computers are available via salary sacrifice. Staff can also extend private medical insurance and health assessments to their families via salary sacrifice.
Telegraph Media Group has also informed senior staff about the impact of pensions tax changes on high-earners, running information sessions with PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Communication for the flex scheme, which is provided by Serenity Flex and Reward, included videos, letters, posters and brochures, with the benefits highlighted on TV in the lobby.
Lynn Cunningham, executive director, organisation development at Telegraph Media Group, said: “Our mantra is about readers being able to choose how they take content and in what form. We are trying to mirror that concept of choice internally.
“As the Telegraph becomes more digital, we have a broader age range and staff at different life stages. Although we had a good standard remuneration package, it was one-size-fits-all. It is important we allow staff to shape their packages to suit their own personal circumstances.”
