Childcare vouchers influence return to work

The provision of a childcare voucher scheme may influence employees’ decision to return to work following parental leave or to remain with a current employer, according to a survey by Busy Bee Benefits.

The survey, carried out among the organisation’s customers, found that 32% of respondents said childcare vouchers had influenced these decisions after having a family.

Employers that highlight the benefits of childcare vouchers were more likely to have working parents stay with the business.

John Woodward, managing director at Busy Bees Benefits, said: “It is often left to parents to bring the benefits of childcare vouchers to the attention of employers, but organisations that have a scheme in place and tell their staff about it are much more likely to retain working parents, maintaining the knowledge base the [organisation] has developed and saving money on recruitment.”
