Enhanced income protection benefit offered to Metropolitan Police staff

City of London Police

Members of the Metropolitan Police Service can now access an enhanced income protection benefit which include access to personal nurse advisers.

The nurse advisory service, provided by RedArc, was added to the income protection offering on 11 August 2017. This will enable eligible staff to access long-term practical help and emotional support when they are affected by a serious physical or mental health condition.

Each member of the income protection scheme will be assigned their own personal nurse adviser, who will be able to offer guidance on health-related issues and answer questions on a confidential basis. The nurses are also able to arrange services such as specialist nurse consultations or external counselling or therapy sessions if required.

Employees who are income protection policyholders are able to access the service for free whether they have made a claim on their policy or not.

The income protection benefit is provided by Metfriendly, a specialist financial services provider for members of the London police service.
