Something for the weekend: Paid internships are akin to finding hidden treasure when employees are starting out on the career ladder. However, travel advice website The Points Guy has the paw-fect opening for a social media savvy dog lover: an internship managing the social media accounts of the organisation’s three French bulldogs.

The travel organisation, based out of a New York office, is hiring a Points Pups intern to work over the summer months. The successful candidate will create and post social media content for the organisation’s three dogs: Miles, Hootie and Swisher, also known as The Points Pups.

The chosen intern will be able to enjoy some great perks with this unusual role; namely that they will be able to travel with their new four-legged colleagues to help research first-hand what it is like to holiday with a pet. The internship is also a paid role, with the successful applicant earning $20 (£14.31) an hour, working between 25 and 40 hours a week.

As well as posting from the pups’ Instagram, Twitter and Facebook accounts, the intern will also be able to write editorial content for the website, as well as contribute towards its pet travel report.

The job description outlines that The Points Guy is searching for a recruit who is social media savvy, with photography skills, although the organisation also lists being “a pet lover and dog whisperer” as desirable traits. Veterinary education experience is also a bonus.

Applicants have until 15 May 2018 to email their CV and a short video explaining why they would be the ideal candidate over to The Points Guy.

Here at Employee Benefits, we think this internship sounds like great fun, and we love the fact that the new recruit will also be paid for getting snap happy with these gorgeous pups while holidaying. Sounds like an ideal summer to us…
