Harbour Healthcare gives 1,500 employees early access to pay

Care home business Harbour Healthcare will give 1,500 employees early access to their pay during the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.

The business that owns and runs 17 homes in Cheshire, Devon, Merseyside and Staffordshire, has partnered with income streaming platform Wagestream to ensure that its employees have access to their pay early if they are facing financial challenges.

The Wagestream platform allows employees to receive a percentage of their earned wages any day of the month for a flat fee of £1.75 per withdrawal.

Ashley Worsley, chief executive at Harbour Healthcare, said: “The monthly pay cycle doesn’t always fit with the world around us and we recognise that. Our staff will be facing more unexpected expenses than usual at the moment, even if their total household income hasn’t been dented by the pandemic.

“By offering income streaming, we are making sure we are doing everything we can to help our staff navigate any financial challenges on their terms. Their reaction to being able to access their money when they want it has been overwhelmingly positive and we can see this becoming a key retention tool.”
