Google, Microsoft and insurance provider Hiscox are among the top 10 employers named in Glassdoor’s 50 UK Best Places to Work in 2020.

Its annual Employees’ Choice Awards, which is in its sixth year in the UK, is compiled using data from employees’ anonymous reviews on Glassdoor’s website.

Employee reviews about their jobs, work environment and employers in the previous 12 months are analysed to select the 50 best places to work, which recognise employers with 1,000 or more employees. Organisations are ranked based on their overall rating achieved during 2019.

Google topped the leaderboard for the third time with an overall 4.5 star rating. Employees praised the technology giant for its free food, work-life balance and benefits.

Software consultancy Equal Experts appeared in second place, making the list for the first time. Other newcomers for this year include Topps Tiles in ninth place, Mace in twelfth position and Astrazeneca at number 41.

More than half of the organisations that made this year’s list are headquartered in the UK.
