Something for the weekend: Employees who work as car designers and animators are the happiest in their roles, according to a study by creative digital PR agency Bubblegum Search, published as part of International Week of Happiness at Work (23-27 September 2024).
Its analysis of more than 2,000 Reddit comments found that those who work in these roles annually earn between £40,000 and £60,000, and £30,000 to £45,000 respectively. Both jobs offer creative freedom and job satisfaction from the opportunity to work on projects individuals are passionate about.
Game developers also rank highly, earning between £35,000 and £50,000 and enjoying a collaborative and innovative work environment. Meanwhile, those working as dog photographers earning between £20,000 and £35,000, cite flexible working hours, creative freedom and the joy of working with furry companions as key to their happiness.
On the other hand, social workers and electricians are among the least happy, citing the emotional and physical demands of their roles. Paramedics and ER workers, despite finding their work rewarding, struggle with high stress and burnout as a result of physically and emotionally demanding roles.
The top 10 happiest jobs as per the study are:
- Car designer
- Animator
- Game developer
- IT support specialist
- Cybersecurity specialist
- Dog photographer
- Developmental biologist
- Occupational therapist
- UX designer
- System administrator
