Breakspear Park gives 300 pumpkins to staff for Halloween

Breakspear Park

Hemel Hempstead-based business park Breakspear Park has gifted 300 pumpkins to employees based on-site, to help staff manage their work-life balance and avoid extra trips to the supermarket in the run up to Halloween.

The pumpkin giveaway, which started last week, forms part of the business park’s wider wellbeing strategy, called Park Life. The strategy has been designed in accordance with results from an employee survey, conducted in August 2018 across 1,000 staff; this indicated that the organisation needed to create a focus on health and mental wellbeing.

Dina Mistry, marketing manager at Breakspear Park, said: “Being more mindful and considerate about what is significant to the employees that work at the business park is very important to us. With the majority of many people’s days being spent at work, it is vital that we help support them in ways outside of the traditional pension scheme and holiday entitlement.”

Park Life has been developed to offer employees a range of events to help lower stress and enhance happiness, as well as to help make their lives easier in general. Upcoming events within the Park Life strategy include complimentary massages, health screening tests, a car valeting service, sessions with inspirational guest speakers and a Christmas gift fair. Breakspear Park will also be organising its 30th birthday celebrations shortly.

Park Life and its events are communicated to employees using regular emails and newsletters, as well as social media.

Mistry added: “We are wanting to lead the way in Hemel Hempstead and champion how to truly reward members of staff. We actively encourage other [organisations] to follow suit and offer their teams privileges that go above and beyond expectations. By offering people extras in the office environment that they would usually attempt to do outside of work, we’ll help create a happy workplace setting and offer people true downtime when they are home.”
