BrainPOP hires Kavita Vora as chief people officer

Kavita Vora has joined online educational specialist BrainPOP as its new chief people officer as of this month (September).

Vora brings more than a decade of HR experience to her new position. Before joining BrainPOP she was the chief people officer at Splice, a digital music creation platform. Prior to that, Vora held the same position at diversity career platform Jopwell, which she joined in 2017 from 3D printing specialist MakerBot, where she was also chief people officer.

Vora was also HR executive director at Hewlett Packard for five years until she joined MakerBot in 2015 and is the founder and principal of angel investment and executive coaching organisation Kaia Ventures.

Maya Kadar Kovalsky, BrainPOP board member, said she was “excited” to welcome Vora to the role of chief people officer, describing her as a “like-minded colleague who will lead us in this next stage of our people-first approach to growth”.

She continued: “Kavita brings the right blend of expertise and passion to sustain and scale BrainPOP’s unique culture, which is rooted in curiosity, collaboration, and generosity of spirit.”

Vora said she brings personal experience to her new position. “Every technology venture I have worked with has a mission based on empowerment, learning, creation, and unlocking opportunities. That’s why I immediately connected with BrainPOP’s mission to empower kids to shape the world around them and within them.

She added: “My sister is a New York City public school teacher, and I know first-hand how much BrainPOP resonates with her students. I look forward to partnering with this amazing team to reach and inspire even more students, teachers, and parents.”
