Retail employer B&M is to reward its 30,000 store and distribution employees with a week’s extra pay in appreciation of their hard work.
The recognition payment, added to employees’ next payslip, is to due to the organisation showing strong financial performance during the third quarter of its financial year. To aid the increasing demand for products, B&M opened 18 new stores and created 500 jobs in its third quarter.
This adds to the 10% pay rise that the organisation gave front-line staff in April 2020 to reward them for their efforts during the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.

Simon Arora, chief executive at B&M, said: “Our trading performance is testament to the hard work and commitment of all our employees, to whom I express my sincere thanks. The safety and wellbeing of our customers and staff have remained our priority during these unprecedented times, while we have worked hard to provide customers with the everyday essentials they need.
“Notwithstanding our status as an essential retailer, with lockdown restrictions in the UK having tightened there remain uncertainties ahead. With our combination of exceptional value and convenient out of town locations, we are confident that our business model will prove highly relevant to the needs of customers in 2021.”
