In April 2020, 46% of people moved to home working due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to the Office of National Statistics. This has remained the case for many, as many companies moved to work from home or flexible working models.

The accommodation booking site noted a trend in those travelling while working a full-time job remotely. They noted that one in five nights booked were for stays of longer than a month. In addition, almost 50% of their nights booked from July to December 2021 were for a week or more. Last year, 175,000 guests booked stays for three months or longer.
The co-founder and CEO of Airbnb, Brian Chesky, sent an email to his employees last week. The email included an acknowledgement of the need to revolutionise the way we work: “Two decades ago, Silicon Valley startups popularised the idea of open floor plans and on-site perks, which were soon adopted by companies all around the world. Similarly, today’s startups have embraced remote work and flexibility, and I think this will become the predominant way that we all work ten years from now. This is where the world is going.”
