Deutsche Post DHL rewards 500,000 staff with €300 bonus

Deutsche Post DHL is rewarding its 500,000 employees with a one-time €300 (£268) bonus payment following on from exceptional business performance throughout the second quarter.

Employees worldwide, except top-level executives, will receive the bonus alongside their salary payment in August 2020, as a thank you for all of their hard work and dedication during the  Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic. The bonus payments will cost the organisation €200 (£179) million.

Due to the financial upsurge, the organisation has not furloughed any employees or implemented any pay cuts during this period.

Frank Appel, chief executive at Deutsche Post DHL, said: “We have navigated our business through this crisis very well so far. We owe this to our committed [employees] worldwide. Only through the tireless efforts of our teams have we managed to keep supply chains up and running and thus maintained the worldwide supply.

“Our fundamental strength and resilience as an organisation has paid off in recent months: With our broad portfolio of leading logistics services, we have the right business model to form the backbone of global trade.”
